"Respect our Authoritah!": South Park Elementary

Background Guide coming soon!

About the Committee

Welcome to the most unhinged PTA meeting this side of the Rockies! Here at South Park Elementary, a minor scheduling mishap or an expired cafeteria meatloaf instantly escalates into a full-scale town panic. After continuous teacher strikes, the legendary cough medicine ban, and whatever happened during the last holiday pageant, the school board wants this Parent Teacher Association permanently disbanded. As avid members of the South Park Parents Facebook group and the broader community, delegates must determine what the future of the Parent Teacher Association will look like, if there is to be a future at all. Whether dealing with sudden bans on Terrance and Phillip, mysterious supernatural anomalies ruining the science fair, or Mr. Garrison launching a propaganda campaign before lunch, survival means balancing the wants of the commmunity with the needs of the students, building alliances with other outrage-obsessed parents, and above all else, ensuring the blame lands on someone else. Whatever happens in this room today, remember the core tenet of this community: respect our authority, or watch this entire town burn to the ground.

Meet the Dais

Alden Ta

Chair

Hello everyone!

My name is Alden Ta, and I could not be more excited to serve as one of your chairs for South Park Elementary!

Originally from sunny Southern California, I am concluding my second and final year at UC Berkeley, where I study Political Economy and Global Studies with a regional focus on the Americas. I have been competing on the circuit for four years now (two with UCBMUN), and I can say with confidence that this club has become a huge part of my life here at Cal.

As a dedicated crisis delegate on our travel team, I’m thrilled to see you all in action! I absolutely love the fast-paced environment that crisis committees create, and I can’t wait to see what you bring to the table. Our staffers are thrilled to have you in committee and are cooking up some amazing things for you all to see.

Outside of MUN, I am involved in student government here at Berkeley and serve as the philanthropy chair of our foreign service fraternity on campus! In my free time, you can find me around campus weightlifting, woodworking, learning new languages, and spending exorbitant amounts of money on my cat, Kipper.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions you might have. Extending a warm welcome to the Bay!

Best,
Alden Ta

Rafi Liao

Crisis Director

Hi delegates!

I am so excited to be your CD for the South Park Committee at UCBMUN XXXI!! My name is Rafi Liao and I'm a sophomore double majoring in Cognitive Science and Psychology at UC Berkeley. While I only started MUN my freshman spring being an ACD for last year's Samurai Committee, I have been lucky enough to travel to two conferences this past year, which have allowed me to appreciate the creativity and fun that MUN brings. Since I grew up in Taipei, Taiwan, MUN has also allowed me to find many close friends and a community that I love.

Now onto this committee. I only started getting into South Park this year and it has immediately become one of my favorite shows OAT. I cannot explain how many vocal stims I have stolen from the show, or how much it has taken over my FYP on Tik Tok. So that being said, as mentioned before, one of the things I love about MUN is how creative you can get, so I will especially love it if you can get very creative and wild (within reason) in ways that stay true to character. Outside of MUN, I LOVE watching horror movies, playing soccer or volleyball or trying new eats. Can't wait to meet all of ya'll!!!

Best,
Rafi Liao
