Rumor Has It: The Making of an Album and the Unmaking of Fleetwood Mac
Background Guide coming soon!
It's late 1976. The biggest musical group at the time, Fleetwood Mac, is in the process of recording what will become one of the greatest albums of the 70s. In the creation of their top-charting album, Rumors, and the planning of their subsequent massive world tour, the band faces many conflicts that threaten to end them. They are rapidly rising towards unprecedented levels of both fame and notoriety as the band members and those invested in the band’s success grapple with the growing strife within the group. Often thought of as one of the most drama-filled bands in recent history, the band's stories have become the inspiration for works of fiction dramatizing the real situations facing this group. From extremely public breakups to financial struggles to music industry pressures, the band seems to be at a breaking point. This committee aims to replicate this era in their history and help guide Fleetwood Mac through the dilemmas that could destroy them. How will they navigate finishing up production on their groundbreaking album amid all of the interpersonal drama brewing? How will the band be able to come together and put on the tour of a lifetime despite the growing pressures on them from fans and executives? How will Fleetwood Mac manage to break the chain of constant turmoil and escape from this experience unscathed? When the rain washes you clean, we’ll know.
Audrey Watson
ChairHello Hello Hello! I’m Audrey Watson, and I am the chair of this very exciting Fleetwood Mac committee! This has been my dream committee for a long time, so I am thrilled to finally bring it to life. I am currently a senior at UC Berkeley studying Neuroscience, and I have been a part of UCBMUN for almost 3 years now.
Now, a little bit about me outside of this club! In my free time, I love reading (major shoutout to Daisy Jones and the Six, which is particularly relevant to this committee…), and I also love portrait photography and usually have a camera in my hand. And obviously, I LOVE music, especially some good soft rock like Fleetwood Mac. I’m usually listening to one of my many, many playlists on Spotify.
Although I have so much fun competing as part of our travel MUN team, one of my favorite parts of UCBMUN is staffing our conferences, both at the collegiate level and at the high school level. The past two years, I have had the wonderful opportunity to be a USG and then the Secretary-General of UCBMUN, and have realized staffing is definitely my favorite part of MUN. This is why I am so excited to chair this committee and see what you all do and what creative solutions you come up with to the unhinged problems that we throw your way!
Celeste and I cannot wait to see what you all have in store for us! If you have any questions, feel free to email me, and I’d be glad to answer them! audreywatson@berkeley.edu

Crisis DirectorHi! My name is Celeste Pallares and I am the cirsis director of this wonderful Fleetwood Mac committee! I love ALL things music so this committee is extra special to me. I am currently a Senior studying Global Studies and Economics and I have been in UCBMUN for just a bit over a year.
Outside of the committee you can usually find me on a hike, at the beach, or having a picnic with friends! Music is also something that has always been a huge part of my life. Growing up I often had drumsticks or a ukulele in my hand and to this day I’ll never say no to live music (that is truly a crime). I also love to read, and like Audrey, I am a big fan of Taylor Jenkins Reid and Daisy Jones & The Six—which, if you've read it, should make you even more excited for this weekend!
In my relatively short time with UCBMUN, I have gotten to experience many different roles and staffing has quickly become my favorite part. I love watching delegates' creative, bold, and sometimes chaotic ideas bring a committee to life. Fleetwood Mac is no exception and I cannot wait to meet yall!
Audrey and I are very excited to watch the Fleetwood Mac drama unfold!
Best,Celeste Pallares
