Scales Behind the Pyramid: Illuminati BoD

About the Committee

Throughout history, the Illuminati has existed beyond the reach of governments, corporations, and the public eye. Long dismissed as little more than a conspiracy theory, the organization has quietly cultivated influence through a vast network of political leaders, financiers, academics, intelligence operatives, and cultural icons. Rather than ruling the world outright, the Illuminati has shaped it from the shadows, guiding the rise and fall of civilization and maintaining the current world order. Now, however, the organization faces perhaps its greatest challenge. The digital age has transformed secrecy into a liability. At the same time, competing intelligence agencies, multinational corporations, billionaire technologists, and emerging geopolitical powers have begun to rival the Illuminati's centuries of carefully cultivated influence. And within the organization itself, ideological divisions continue to deepen. Will centuries-old tradition give way to a modern era? And should the Illuminati remain in the shadows, or finally enter the light? Delegates in this committee will serve as members of the Illuminati's Board of Directors, the organization's highest governing body. Equal parts corporate boardroom, intelligence command, and secret society, the Board is responsible for everything from allocating the organization's vast financial resources and overseeing covert operations to recruiting influential members, managing public narratives, responding to global crises, and resolving internal power struggles. Every decision carries consequences—a successful operation may strengthen the organization's influence for decades, while a single mistake could expose centuries of carefully guarded secrecy. The Illuminati has never sought recognition, only results. Whether history remembers your actions is irrelevant. All that matters is that everything goes according to plan.

Meet the Dais

Amara Fernandes

Chair

Esteemed Members of the Board—

My name is Amara, and I’m from Santa Clara, California. I am thrilled to invite you to the Illuminati Board of Directors.

I am a senior majoring in Political Economy with a concentration in International Development, and minoring in Public Policy. I’ve been in UCBMUN since Spring 2024, and while I’m primarily a GA delegate, I’ve had the joy and privilege of chairing and vice chairing spec and crisis committees. Outside of MUN and secret societies, I enjoy birdwatching, Green Day, and all things miniature. I’m also a huge fan of nonfiction books and the San Jose Sharks.

For centuries, people have blamed the Illuminati for phenomena ranging from the supernatural to the strange. Social customs, ancient monuments, and catastrophic events have all been traced back to this original inner circle. In this committee, you’ll guide one of history’s most infamous groups through clashing ambitions and internal power struggles, political upheaval and global influence. You must navigate these challenges all while furthering the organization’s broader mission and remaining in the shadows. Every decision you make has the potential to reshape history. Remember, the greatest conspiracies aren’t the ones people refuse to believe—they’re the ones no one ever suspects.

1800 (or whenever committee starts) XX.XX.XX. (date of committee day 1) 37.7818° N, 122.4047° W. I’ll see you there.

Best,
Amara Fernandes

Valerie Mondragon

Crisis Director

"Hello everyone,

My name is Valerie Mondragon, and I am so excited to serve as your Co-Chair for the Illuminati Committee! I also serve as your Director of Technology for UCBMUN XXXI and previously served as Chief of Staff External. I grew up in a small town in SoCal, but my family is originally from Mexico. I had the opportunity to visit Mexico City during the World Cup and had an absolute blast! I am a third-year student hoping to pursue a career in space policy. On campus, I have served as the President of my Hall Association, volunteered at a local nonprofit, and worked as a researcher and manager on a project with NewsSpace. Outside of school, I enjoy trying out new coffee shops, thrifting, and exploring new places with friends. I hope this committee gives you all the opportunity to get creative and collaborate with one another. Amara and I are really looking forward to meeting you all and seeing what you bring to the committee, and most importantly, we hope you have a lot of fun. Good luck to you all!

Best,
Valerie Mondragon
