From Ashes to Acts: the Panem Peace Conference

Background Guide coming soon!

About the Committee

The Capitol is alive with spectacle, tension, and ruthless strategy as preparations begin for the 74th Annual Hunger Games. In this specialized committee, delegates will take on the roles of key stakeholders, Capitol officials, Peacekeepers, stylists, sponsors, Gamemakers, and even selected tributes themselves, as they coordinate, influence, and ultimately execute one of Panem’s most critical national events. From designing the arena and selecting the tributes to shaping public opinion and making life-or-death sponsorship decisions, every move made in the committee chamber will have real consequences in the Games. Will the Capitol maintain its grip on the districts through fear and spectacle—or will cracks begin to form beneath the glamour? Only one victor may emerge, but all delegates will have blood on their hands. Let the Games begin.

Meet the Dais

ESHAL NAQVI

Chair

Hi, and welcome to the Panem Peace Conference!

My name is Eshal Naqvi (she/her), and I’m thrilled to serve as one of your chairs for this year's Hunger Games-inspired committee. I’m a third year at UC Berkeley, double majoring in Political Science and Ethnic Studies, with minors in Human Rights and Global Poverty & Practice on the pre-law track.

I’ve been in UCBMUN since my freshman year, and throughout my time have served on the D.E.I. Committee as well as the social media chair. Apart from classes,  I work with K-5 students through Ballet&Books, intern at the SF Superior Court with AmeriCorps, and work on housing justice and rent policy with Berkeley’s City Council. In my free time, I love exploring and rating new food spots, drinking lethal amounts of coffee, hanging out with cats, and reading.

I was drawn to creating this committee because, more than just a series, The Hunger Games is a powerful commentary on inequality, resistance, and the politics of survival. I can’t wait to see how you all engage with the world of Panem and bring your own insight, strategy, and creativity to the committee!

Best,
ESHAL NAQVI
Chair, From Ashes to Acts: the Panem Peace Conference

ANNA LIEGGI

Crisis Director

Hi! My name is Anna Lieggi, and I’m a rising third-year at UC Berkeley majoring in Political Science and Global Studies, with a concentration in peace and conflict in Europe and Russia. I’m originally from Irvine, California, and outside of MUN, I love hiking, traveling, and listening to music, anything from John Summit to The Cranberries. I’ve been involved with UCBMUN since my freshman year and had the honor of serving as Secretary-General of BEARMUN, our high school conference, last year. I’m beyond excited to be staffing this Hunger Games Panem committee, not just because I’m a huge fan of the series, but because it’s full of dystopian drama and invaluable commentary on our society. Plus, getting to chair with one of my friends, Eshal, makes it even better. I can’t wait to see how delegates bring Panem to life!

Best,
ANNA LIEGGI
