Write on Cue: Press Corps
Background Guide coming soon!
As short form content becomes the dominant source of entertainment across the globe, television networks are facing a troubling question: how can they produce content that retains a viewer’s attention? In this committee, delegates will take on the roles of network television screenwriters, turning events happening across committees into potential storylines for hit shows and posing their observations as their own pitches. From accidental leaks that force last minute rewrites to terrible ratings that threaten cancellation, delegates will experience the thrills and challenges that come with being a screenwriter. Do you have what it takes to write the next hit show? Or will your pitch force the network to pull the plug?
Romi Lisboa
ChairDear Delegates,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Press Corps committee at UCBMUN! My name is Romi Vieira Lisboa (she/her), and I will serve as your director for this committee!
I’m a fourth-year student at UC Berkeley studying English and Creative Writing. I joined UCBMUN my freshman year to explore new activities at Cal and fell in love with staffing and competing in Press Corps ever since. Outside of MUN, I love to write personal essays and commentaries, particularly pieces about theater!
The Press Corps committee is one that encourages a lot of innovative and creative work from its delegates. Although television writing already requires much creativity, this weekend we hope to open your minds to the ways that creative writing and reporting can merge.
If there are any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us. I’m so excited to meet you all and witness the amazing pieces you produce during the weekend!

Cate Menotti
ChairDear Delegates,
Greetings!
Welcome to UCBMUN and the Press Corps! My name is Cate Menotti (she/her), and I’m so excited to be a chair for this committee.
As a senior at UC Berkeley, I am studying Environmental Economics & Policy with minors in City Planning and Energy & Resources. I am originally from Albany, California (not Albany, New York as many assume), which is a small town just north of Berkeley, making me a Bay Area gal through and through. Like my amazing co-chair, I joined UCBMUN my freshman year to join a community of passionate students and competitors — and I have thoroughly enjoyed competing around the country and staffing conferences! Besides UCBMUN and UC Berkeley, I love spending my free time hiking, hanging with friends on the Glade, forcing UCBMUN members to do yoga sculpt, and exploring various cafes and cozy spots to read around Berkeley & SF. In this committee, you will step directly into the shoes of network television screenwriters, working to turn live breaking developments from across the conference into compelling storylines. As delegates in this committee, we hope to push your creative boundaries and challenge you to think on your feet. As your Chair, I’m looking forward to seeing your individuality and creativity, sharp observational skills, and storytelling style shine through in every pitch. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. I can’t wait to meet you all and see whether your pitches create the next hit show…or force the network to pull the plug!
Best,Cate Menotti
